How long will my solar panels last?
One of the most attractive features of solar panel technology is its cost-effectiveness. After your initial investment, solar panels will continually convert solar power into clean energy. Under the best conditions, solar panels can last over 30 years long. When properly maintained and monitored, you can look forward to decades of clean energy for you and your family.
Will my roof need to be upgraded?
If your Roof is over 15 years old, it may make sense to replace your roof during the solar installation process. During our site audit, we will look at the usable life of your roof and let you know our recommendations. Once the panels have been installed, your roof will likely deteriorate well before your solar panels. In this instance, give Oberon a quick call to give you a proposal on redoing your roof. We’ll help secure your panels while any roof maintenance is being done.
How does a commercial solar system attach to a flat roof.
A flat roof solar system is most often held down by ballast blocks made of weather resistant concrete. This ballast is held in solar racking systems that are designed to fit this purpose. This type of system minimizes the amount penetrations that have to be made on a roof thereby reducing wear and tear on the roof system.
What is net metering?
Net metering is a billing mechanism that credits solar energy system owners for the electricity they add to the grid. Customers are only billed for the net amount of energy they use in a month. An arrays total production is subtracted from the amount of energy used that month. If there is an excess in that production period, the utility will bank those credits for use at a future date.
Why should my business go solar?
It’s a question of when you should go solar and not if. Solar energy is the most efficient form of clean energy that can be produced. Its acquisition process requires a one-time technical installation and can operate for over 30 years. Oberon understands that each customer’s financial case for solar will depend on what is important to that customer and what pinch points can solar help smooth out for your organization. Contact us today and we will help you do a detailed analysis of your investment opportunity.
Are the environmental benefits of solar energy worth the price?
Let’s face it. Renewable energy is now the future of power. According to the most recent EPA figures, approximately 62% of our electricity currently comes from burning fossil fuels—mainly coal and natural gas. Solar power and other renewable energy resources are cleaner and more efficient. This reduces greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change and air pollutants that cause health problems. So yes, solar energy will benefit everyone in the long run—especially our planet. Federal tax credits, incentives and rebates can make the price even sweeter if you act quickly.
Can my business afford to go solar?
Can you afford not to? The cost of doing nothing can be enormous. Electricity costs rise every year. Going solar now offsets those price increases for decades to come and can even eliminate them altogether when you’re generating the amount of energy you use at your business. Renewable energy is also the future—where cleaner, more sustainable power sources help reduce environmental harm and the impacts of climate change. If you wait too long, you’ll lose out on federal tax credits, state-level tax incentives and other potential rebates, increasing the cost to install a solar power system.
What happens if there’s snow on my solar panels?
Solar panels convert sunshine into power. If your panels are covered in snow, they can’t produce electricity. But don’t worry; snow isn’t usually heavy enough to cause structural damage to your panels. Best of all, most panels are tilted at an angle and the snow will slide right off. Moreover, Oberon offers award-winning Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Solutions monitor our clients’ systems 24/7 and remotely diagnose issues.
How long will my solar power system last?
Solar panels are very durable and have no moving parts. They are capable of withstanding snow, wind and hail, so there’s not much worry there. As your personal proposal will detail, most systems guarantee production for 25+ years. Although they will continue to generate electricity for many years to come!
